Southeast Asian Literature and Film in Translation

The shadow of colonialism may still be seen in Cambodia today. For example, we have integrated French language into our school curriculum, as well as French architecture in various provinces, such as Battambang province.
In this segment, two politicians meet to debate the major topic of colonialism.
We picked the French film "The Gate/ Le temps des aveux," which was shot in Cambodia.
The show's host is Serei Songha, and the show's guest is Sora Chen.
Based on what we've talked. Mr. Serei Songha makes an important observation concerning the impact of colonialism on the majority of Cambodians.
We must recognize that Cambodia had been occupied by France for a long period, and people began to fear the "overlord."
Despite the fact that Cambodia is now free, we instinctively attempt to avoid discussing this issue.
To back up our assertion and connect it to our colonialism topic, we used evidence from Bill Ashcroft's book about colonialism to support the film.
Is the film factually correct?
Yes, I believe the writer and performers clearly illustrate the events that occurred under the Khmer Rouge regime. However, in order to appraise the issue accurately, we must analyze and remain objective.
