Who is Bill Ashcroft ? Bill Ashcroft is a Professorial Fellow at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. A prominent critic and theorist, co-author of the groundbreaking The Empire Writes Back, the first work to investigate comprehensively a subject now known as "postcolonial studies," and one of the founding exponents of postcolonial theory. He provides a full theoretical analysis of a wide range of postcolonial literature and their relationship to wider concerns of postcolonial culture in The Post-Colonial Studies Reader. He is the author or co-author of sixteen books, as well as over 140 chapters and papers that have been translated into numerous languages.
